Double Reality: An Art-ivism Exhibit to End Climate Silence and Name Climate Criminals

Have you already seen the art-ivism display on Cayuga St near the library? Whether you have seen it or not, please come join us this First Friday of September (9/5) for our open house Double Reality: An Art-ivism Exhibit to End Climate Silence and Name Climate Criminals (a collaboration between Cornell on Fire, Extinction Rebellion Ithaca, and Scientist Rebellion).

Come for the art, stay for the refreshments and open conversation!

Where: Located at 115-121 S. Cayuga Street in Ithaca (between the Commons and the Library)

When: Friday September 5, 5pm-8pm (drop by anytime)

Why: The exhibit makes visible the painful reality of climate silence among ordinary people juxtaposed with the public deception and profiteering of climate criminals - highlighting the disorienting double reality of performing "normalcy" as the world burns.

Background: The artists represent a coalition of climate activist groups with a local presence, including Cornell on Fire, Extinction Rebellion Ithaca, and Scientist Rebellion Turtle Island. Cornell on Fire is a campus-community movement calling on Cornell--and ourselves--to confront the climate emergency. Extinction Rebellion Ithaca is part of a decentralized, international and politically non-partisan movement using non-violent direct action and civil disobedience to persuade governments to act justly on the Climate and Ecological Emergency. Scientist Rebellion Turtle Island is a multi-disciplinary group of scientists united by one thought: we understand the breadth and magnitude of the climate crisis and we are damned determined to do something about it.
